Military Fire Training for Hazardous Materials Awareness TrainingThis is a contract program only!
This program exceeds the State of Indiana requirements for IFSAC certification which can then be exchanged for DOD requirements. Hazardous Materials Awareness Level (pre-requisite 18 years old) Awareness Level Training for Hazardous Materials is intended as a primary program for all personnel seeking to qualify as Awareness Level responders to hazardous materials incidents. The textbook for this program is the IFSTA 2nd edition of IFSTA Awareness Level Training. It addresses NFPA® 472, Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, (2002 edition), for Awareness Level, and it also covers the Office of Domestic Preparedness Emergency Responder Guidelines (for terrorist incidents involving weapons of mass destruction) for Awareness Level for firefighters and law enforcement officers. Awareness Level Training for Hazardous Materials text and program covers hazardous materials regulations; transportation placards, labels, and markings; and hazard communication requirements for Canada and Mexico as well as the United States. It includes many sidebars, information boxes, safety reminders, and warnings and provides instructions on how to use the Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG). Upon completion of the basic course requirements, students will be eligible for DOD and/or National Certification (IFSAC) at the Hazardous Materials Awareness Level, provided a final exam score of 70% or higher is achieved and course job performance reviews are successfully completed and additional pre-requisites are attained. Local, state and military authorities set pre-requisites.
