Military Fire Training for Hazardous Materials Operations Level TrainingThis is a contract program only!
This program exceeds the State of Indiana requirements for IFSAC certification which can then be exchanged for DOD requirements. First Responder-Operations personnel shall have sufficient training or experience to objectively demonstrate the following competencies: Basic Hazard and risk assessment techniques, knowledge of how to select & use PPE and equipment available, understanding of basic hazardous material terms, knowledge of how to perform basic control, containment and/or confinement operations within the capabilities of the resources and PPE available, knowledge of how to implement basic decontamination measures, understanding standard operating procedures & termination procedures. Local, state and military authorities set pre-requisites. National Certification exams and practical objectives are handled through the Indiana Board of Firefighter Personnel Standards and Education. THIS PROGRAM MEETS OR EXCEEDS NATIONAL CERTIFICATION, OSHA AND/OR DOD REQUIREMENTS FOR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS OPERATIONS. Special Note: OSHA rules state that ALL Emergency Responders MUST be certified or trained and maintain training at the Operations Level to participate or assist at any scene that is discharging Hazardous Materials. This means that almost all vehicular accidents are also a HAZMAT Incident. The rule goes for Firefighters, EMT/Paramedics, Law Enforcement and civilian assisting agencies such as wrecker companies.
