This program exceeds the State of Indiana requirements for IFSAC certification which can then be exchanged for DOD requirements.

Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Levels Combined (pre-requisite 18 years of age)

Hazardous Materials for First Responders is intended as a primary program and text for all personnel seeking to qualify for Awareness and Operational-Level responders to hazardous materials incidents and as a reference text for those who have already qualified. It addresses NFPA® 472, Standard for Professional Competence of Responders to Hazardous Materials Incidents, (2002 edition), for Awareness and Operational Levels; it also covers the Office of Domestic Preparedness Emergency Responder Guidelines (for terrorist incidents involving weapons of mass destruction) for Awareness Level and Performance Level A (Operational Level) for firefighters and law enforcement officers.

This program and text meets the Office of Domestic Preparedness Emergency Responder Guidelines for Awareness Level and Performance Level A for firefighters and law enforcement officers.

Upon completion of the basic course requirements, students will be eligible for DOD and/or National Certification (IFSAC) at the Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Level provided a final exam score of 70% or higher is achieved and course job performance reviews are successfully completed and additional pre-requisites are attained. Local, state and military authorities set pre-requisites.
